ANNABELLE MOVIE REVIEW

I am not a huge fan of horror films but Annabelle came this weekend and as we all know it’s a prequel of “CONJURING” so I decided to go for it and here is my review of “Annabelle”.

Do you remember that freaking, creepy doll from conjuring the doll itself looks so creepy that now it has it’s own standalone film. My expectations from this film was very high, I wanted this film to freak me out , I paid for ticket to get scared as hell but unfortunately none of it happened.

Now the story begins with a loving couple John (Ward Gordon) and Mia (Annabelle Wallis) who are expecting a baby very soon. One day John gifts Mia a doll, Mia was searching for that doll for a very long time to complete her doll collection. One night Mia hears a scream next door and she wakes up John, soon they find out their neighbors have been killed and the killers breaks in their house and tries to kill Mia but at time police comes and shoots the killers before dying female killer draws a strange mark on wall and she dies holding a doll in her hands. After that strange things starts happening  with them to find out what is happening with them Mia call the policeman who investigated their neighbor’s murder case and policeman tells Mia that those killers were members of a Satanic Cult and they were here to conjure something. After that Mia gives birth to a healthy girl. Finally the couple decides to move and they shifts their house but before shifting John throws the doll in dustbin. While unpacking  in their new house Mia finds the doll in one of their boxes and decides to keep it. In next few days more weird things happens with Mia to know more you have to watch the film.

A creepy doll can kick your ass yes that’s the entire premise of this film, the doll itself looks  so creepy that I am wandering why anyone in world would like to have a doll like that. Whenever the doll comes on screen it  gives you a strange feeling of rising fear inside you.  So +1 to Annabelle for showing possibly the creepiest doll ever on screen.

I think the premise of this film is strong but it’s story is weak. Conjuring had a solid story a family moves in a farm house, the farm house itself has a back story , the family has a back story , there were ghost investigators who also had their back story so everything in conjuring had a meaning but in Annabelle nothing like that, so -1 for weak story.

Now let’s talk about performance , in the entire film I only liked Tony Amendola’s performance who is playing  Father Perez he is amazing in his role but unfortunately his role is very short. When you are making a horror movie it’s a director’s job to make audience feel pity for human characters but director John R. Leonetti  fails to do that so you never feel pity for Mia and John. The result is by the end of the film you don’t care for them at all whether they survive or brutally get killed by demon.

Now conjuring had too many jump scares the film made us shout in shock but Annabelle has only one genuine jump scare. I wish with the movie had more of them. There are other horror moments but we have seen all of them before in other movies still they are bit effective but not too much.

So all and all go for Annabelle only  if you are a die hard fan of horror genre but if you are expecting a great horror film like Conjuring than just skip this one…

Have you already seen Annabelle…?
What do you think about it…?
